Bridge with Friends

Social Bridge for players who have a little bit of knowledge of the game. We have lots of fun connecting with friends and enjoying the game. Keeping score is just to keep us on track. If we have an odd number of players, we rotate every four games.

We play the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday each month and welcome new players with some experience of the game. Generally on 2nd Tuesdays the group meets at a location in West Seattle, and 4th Thursdays at a location in Seattle. Register online by two days before the game.

Women of the Woods (WOWs) | Grand Ridge Park (Wednesday, May 13, 2026)

Grand Ridge Park / Central Park Trailhead

Grand Ridge Park includes 12 miles of WTA-built trails through western red cedar trees, sword ferns, nettles, berries and some slugs! It is open to hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. Mid week should be quiet and mostly hikers. We plan to combine several trails for a total of 7 miles and 900 feet elevation gain. Specific directions will be sent to those who register.

What to Bring/Wear:

Water, lunch, snacks; wear good hiking boots. hiking poles recommended; wear layers and pack a rain jacket.
Know your abilities. You are responsible for your own safety.
Please be prepared for being out in the woods. You are encouraged to bring the following 10 essentials:

A map or phone navigation app
Headlamp or Small flashlight
Sun protection
Bug spray
First aid: ace bandage; compression bandage; gauze; band-aids; pain, allergy or other medication, and foot care as needed
Knife
Matches
Extra water

Windcliff Plants

On a south-facing bluff in Indianola sits a botanical “salad bowl” known as Windcliff. A garden mixture of plants from around the world, it houses a diverse array of species. Plants from China and Vietnam are well represented but South African species especially love the climate and populate the garden, much like loading a salad with lots of croutons.

The creation of globe-trotting plant collector Dan Hinkley and husband Robert Jones, Windcliff is the latest chapter in Hinkley’s botanical odyssey that began with his master’s degree in urban horticulture from the University of Washington. Decades of collecting and propagating combined with a love of plant diversity are the framework of Windcliff.

Bring your own morning beverage or buy a coffee at EWC’s Common Grounds coffee bar. Let’s meet in the Banquet Room where we can get to know one another while enjoying the magnificent waterfront view.

After coffee, you’re on your own to have lunch in the Banquet Room (you can sign up for the lunch program), buy a snack at Common Grounds, and/or take a walk along the waterfront. Seals and sea lions have been spotted recently! You may even want to take a ferry ride to Kingston on a nice day. Walk on fees are $5.10 for seniors (65 & over), $10.25 for younger folks.

This Mah Jongg group meets twice monthly, on 1st and 3rd Thursdays (except holidays) from10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

All levels are welcome to join! We'll usually have willing teachers available.
Third Place Commons is a casual public space without advance table reservations. We'll choose our tables and play first come, first served, with a limit of 12 players. Bring your Mah Jongg set if you have one!
Food and beverages are also no-host. Bring your own or purchase from the Bakery or other restaurants located in the Commons area.

Storytelling Salon

Storytelling Salon is an interest group for members to socialize and share stories with one another. We start with a happy hour with hors d’oeuvres and beverages (bring your favorite to share), and then we move into our stories. Whether you prefer to read your story or present it without notes, you’ll have an opportunity to share whatever your heart desires, including tales of lost love, wild times, and strange people!

Fashioned after The Moth events, speakers have just five minutes to present. But instead of voting for winners (which happens at The Moth events), listeners just offer up their compliments about content, craft, and delivery. At the end of each session, we spend a few minutes discussing a particular aspect of craft.

These events are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the private dining room of Bellevue Towers except during winter months (Jan-Apr) when we meet on Zoom.

Building Access:

Enter Bellevue Towers at Retail Parking/Residential Amenities entrance on 106th NE behind the red art sculpture. Please arrive promptly at 6:00 pm and you will be met there and escorted to the private Community Dining room on the 5th floor. If you are late, text Gail Kretchmer at 425-495-3724.

What’s the Story?

Bring a French-inspired salad and join us for lunch to find out!

A tiny symbol, a big story--and a lovely excuse to gather. This get-together is inspired by Bridget’s Tante Paulette, a cherished French family friend who once served drinks in weighty glass tumblers stamped with Napoleon’s bees. That small detail sent us down a delightful rabbit hole. We’ll share a bit of this history and explore how the bee still appears in French decorative arts today.

What to Bring: A French-inspired salad to share, we’ll have baguettes, dessert, and pitchers of lemon water—simple, fresh, and very French.

Join Newcomers friends for Agatha Christie’s The Mysterious Affair at Styles. This adaptation by the Driftwood Players introduces audiences to the first mystery of Hercule Poirot. The year is 1916 and, injured in WWI, Hastings finds himself convalescing at the manor of his old friend, John Cavendish. But when John’s mother is poisoned in the middle of the night, everyone becomes a suspect!  

Runtime: 2 hours plus a 15 minute intermission

After the closing curtain, those who wish to will gather at Epulo Bistro (190 Sunset Avenue, Suite B, Edmonds) for happy hour. More details will be provided by email closer to showtime.

stubus Indigenous Walking Tour

The stubus Indigenous Walking Tour consists of sixteen sites featuring indigenous art and landmarks throughout the Edmonds Bowl. Stubus (stoh’-boos) is the Lushootseed word for Point Edwards bluff, a prominent landmark that guided canoe travelers to the original Edmonds marsh, a location rich with natural resources and starting point for a vast regional trail system.

This is usually a self-guided tour – however – we are so pleased that Diana White, an enrolled member of Prairie Band Potawatomi, has volunteered to be our guide. Diana is one of the team members who created the tour, which debuted on indigenous peoples day 2025.

Printed booklets including a map will be given at the start of the tour, which is about two miles long and takes roughly 90 minutes to complete. Some hills, mostly flat city terrain.

All levels are welcome to join! We'll usually have willing teachers available.
Third Place Commons is a casual public space without advance table reservations. We'll choose our tables and play first come, first served, with a limit of 12 players. Bring your Mah Jongg set if you have one!
Food and beverages are also no-host. Bring your own or purchase from the Bakery or other restaurants located in the Commons area.

Our June All-Club Event will be held at the internationally renowned Southern Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão in downtown Bellevue, featuring a menu showcasing the centuries-old Southern Brazilian grilling technique of churrasco. Fogo de Chão honors the Brazilian gaucho traditions of churrasco, the art of roasting meats over an open fire, and espeto corrido, or “continuous service.”

3-hour parking is complimentary in both the Lincoln Square South and Bellevue Collection garages with a restaurant validation.
Lincoln Square South underground parking has the most direct elevator to Fago de Chão. Put Lincoln Square South Parking Garage in your GPS for best parking directions. Take the elevator up to the 1st level and the restaurant entrance is right around the corner.
There is a tunnel connection from Bellevue Collection located on Level P3.
Valet parking at Lincoln Square is available for a fee - it is a short, flat walk to the restaurant.

The restaurant is accessible from the new Link Light Rail Line 2 from the Downtown Bellevue Station with approximately a 15-minute (.5 mile) slightly uphill walk.

Port Gamble is one of Washington’s oldest non-Native settlements and it appears that you might just be in New England! The town was settled by two Maine lumbermen, Andrew Pope and William Talbot, who, with partners Josiah Keller and Charles Foster, formed the Puget Mill Company. Due to a shortage of lumber workers in the area, they recruited mill workers from Maine, and constructed buildings in the New England style of the time to help ward off homesickness. Eventually, the mill recruited workers from the local S’Klallam tribe, and became a source of lumber worldwide. This mill became the longest continuously working lumber mill in North America. When it closed in 1995, it had been in operation for 142 years. In 1966, Port Gamble was declared a National Historical Landmark.

Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park is located just outside of the historic village, 15 minutes from the Kingston Ferry terminal, and has an extensive network of multi-use trails. There are over 60 miles of trails and forest roads in the woods traversing ~3900 acres. The singletrack and dirt paths travel through the dense Pacific Northwest forest. We'll walk Secret Squirrel and Beaver Trail loops, a total of approximately 5.25 miles, which should take approximately 2 hours to complete. For anyone who wants a shorter walk, there is a simple "bail out option" down a main forest road back to the car park, making a 2.5 mile loop. Hopefully the foxglove and other wildflowers will be blooming in profusion at this time; if so, we have an option to take a trail through a former clear-cut area to make the most of the show, which would extend the distance to 5.4 miles. Elevation gain is approximately 500 feet; most of the trail is gentle, with one short section of switchbacks going up and a short steep downhill section. Some hikers may want to use poles for these brief sections. Boots are not essential, but trail shoes with a good sole are strongly recommended, particularly if it has been wet.

After the hike, we have the option to have lunch at Butcher and Baker Provisions in town. They serve coffees, delicious homemade cakes/cookies/pastries, breakfasts salads, sandwiches, and entrees, and have indoor and covered outdoor seating. The portions can be large, but everything is delicious.

The town of Port Gamble is very quaint with some lovely gift and art shops, a small museum, theater, wedding venue and cemetery. There are also incredible views across Gamble Bay and Hood Canal, where the occasional Navy ship/sub or whale can be spotted. A walk around the town from the Butcher and Baker parking lot is approximately 0.5 miles.

Note: A ferry is required for this event! Preferred option is Washington State Ferries Edmonds-to-Kingston departing at 8:50 am, arriving at approximately 9:20. This should get walkers to the trailhead around 9:45.

Come join us for some gardening as we work with a staff gardener to preserve and beautify this gem in southern Seattle. We will have a short private tour in advance of the work event to learn about the history of the Garden (or other topics of interest) and provide context for the volunteer effort. All equipment, tools and gloves will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. Exact tasks will be determined by the gardener but could be a range of garden maintenance projects, likely weeding or mulching garden beds. If you like, bring a sack lunch and we can have lunch together in the garden after the event. There are several picnic tables.

The centerpiece of this experience is a docent-led tour of The Museum of Flight, which will feature museum highlights and a few stories about some of the women and men who have contributed to the progress of aviation and astronomy.

After the tour is completed, explore the museum further on your own, enjoy some food in the cafeteria, or meet up for lunch offsite in Georgetown. A reminder that your ticket is valid for same-day Museum reentry, even if you depart the campus for a break. . . but remember to leave your ticket wristlet on!

Note: The tour will traverse the breadth of the museum, with a combination of standing and walking (on stairs and ramps) over the duration of an hour; the Museum does offer elevators and wheelchair lifts as needed.

This Mah Jongg group meets twice monthly, on 1st and 3rd Thursdays (except holidays) from10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

All levels are welcome to join! We'll usually have willing teachers available.
Third Place Commons is a casual public space without advance table reservations. We'll choose our tables and play first come, first served, with a limit of 12 players. Bring your Mah Jongg set if you have one!
Food and beverages are also no-host. Bring your own or purchase from the Bakery or other restaurants located in the Commons area.

How Waitlists Work:

If a registrant cancels, the first person on the list will be automatically registered.

If you are waitlisted and cannot attend, please remove yourself from the waitlist so the next person on the list can move up. To remove yourself from the waitlist, open your profile and view My Event Registrations. Waitlist events display with a 'Remove' link under the Status column. After removing yourself from the waitlist, you and the event host will receive cancellation notices.

All levels are welcome to join! We'll usually have willing teachers available.
Third Place Commons is a casual public space without advance table reservations. We'll choose our tables and play first come, first served, with a limit of 12 players. Bring your Mah Jongg set if you have one!

Mah Jongg with Friends

This Mah Jongg group meets twice monthly, on 1st and 3rd Thursdays (except holidays) from10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

All levels are welcome to join! We'll usually have willing teachers available.
Third Place Commons is a casual public space without advance table reservations. We'll choose our tables and play first come, first served, with a limit of 12 players. Bring your Mah Jongg set if you have one!
Food and beverages are also no-host. Bring your own or purchase from the Bakery or other restaurants located in the Commons area.

The Eastside MahJongg group plays American MahJongg.

We meet twice monthly, on the 1st & 3rd Fridays, 10am-1:30pm/2pm.

>1st Friday at the Bellevue Public Library in a reserved room

Enter the mall on the South/NE 8th side by Phenix Salon Suites & ATI Physical Therapy or on the West/156th side near QFC.

These meets are un-hosted so BYO coffee, drinks, snacks. *It is encouraged to purchase drinks/snacks with the Crossroads vendors as this space is reserved for us without a fee.
